Yingyan (Celine) Lin

Associate Professor

Yingyan (Celine) Lin is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Computer Science, a member of the Machine Learning Center, and the co-director of the newly established Center for Advancing Responsible Computing (CARE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She leads the Efficient and Intelligent Computing (EIC) Lab, focusing on developing efficient machine learning solutions through cross-layer innovations, from AI algorithms to hardware accelerators and chip design. Her work aims to promote green AI and ubiquitous AI-powered intelligence. She received her Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2017 and was an Assistant Professor at Rice University from 2017 to 2022.

Celine has received several prestigious awards, including the Facebook Research Award (2020), NSF CAREER Award (2021), IBM Faculty Award (2021), Meta Faculty Research Award (2022), and ACM SIGDA Outstanding Young Faculty Award (2022). In 2024, she received "The James D. Lester III Endowment Award" during the College of Computing Annual Awards and Honors as well as the SRC Young Faculty Award. During her Ph.D., she was recognized as a Rising Star in EECS at Stanford University's 2017 Academic Career Workshop for Women, received a Best Student Paper Award at the IEEE SiPS 2016, and the Robert T. Chien Memorial Award for Excellence in Research at UIUC. Her group's research has been supported by leading agencies such as NSF, NIH, DARPA, ARPA-H, and SRC, as well as corporations like Qualcomm, Intel, HP, IBM, and Meta, and has won first place in both the ACM SIGDA University Demonstration at DAC 2022 and the ACM/IEEE TinyML Design Contest at ICCAD 2022. Their work has also been selected as spotlight papers at ICLR in 2020 and 2021 and as an oral paper at ECCV 2024, and was featured as an IEEE Micro Top Pick of 2023.
